About this grant
Instituto Socioambiental is a Brazilian nonprofit dedicated to advancing sustainable development in the Amazon and the rights of these communities to self-determination. In the previous grant period, the grantee strengthened community-led monitoring and produced critical knowledge on the cumulative impacts of large-scale hydropower and mining investments in the Xingu basin. Over the next grant period, the grantee will strengthen communities’ participation in decision-making processes amid growing pressures from infrastructure investment and mining activities. The project will also expand access to renewable energy solutions to strengthen sustainable livelihoods.
