About this grant

The Centro de Estudos Avançados de Promoção Social e Ambiental, a nonprofit organization founded in 1985, promotes sustainable development and the conservation of the Amazon by strengthening public policies and improving livelihoods for Indigenous and traditional communities. In the previous grant period, the grantee expanded off-grid renewable energy access for primary health care facilities and trained local solar technicians in the Tapajós River basin. In the next grant period, the grantee will implement renewable energy technologies in the Tapajós-Arapiuns Extractive Reserve while strengthening community governance to manage the systems.
