About this grant
Founded in 1855, Michigan State University is a leading research institution with more than 50,000 students and recognized expertise in water science, community engagement and extension. The Michigan Clean Water Corps project aims to leverage 51 years of statewide water quality data collected through their volunteer-driven initiative, which involves over 5,000 participants. Through this project, the grantee will conduct comprehensive statewide analyses of water data to pinpoint priority water quality threats, identify emerging trends and propose actionable solutions across Michigan’s diverse watersheds. Additionally, the initiative will deploy practical tools and foster strategic partnerships in six key watersheds to empower communities to make informed decisions regarding water resource management. Ultimately, the project seeks to create a scalable model that transforms citizen science efforts into lasting improvements in community water governance and management.
