About this grant

Community-owned clean energy assets could generate sustainable income by selling surplus electricity to the grid, but securing development finance for this kind of infrastructure remains extremely difficult. Founded in 1982 and now operating in more than a dozen focus countries, the World Resources Institute is an international organization that works to improve people’s lives, protect nature and stabilize the climate by using research to catalyze change. With this grant, the grantee will identify practical pathways to unlock development finance for community-owned clean energy in South America with particular attention to whether communities can generate revenue by selling surplus electricity into the grid.
