FLINT, Mich. — The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Perkins as chief financial officer and vice president, Administration. With a distinguished career that spans the nonprofit sector and international diplomacy, Perkins brings to the Foundation a wealth of experience in global financial management, strategic planning and operational leadership.

Perkins joined Mott from Critical Path Institute, where he served as chief financial officer and treasurer. During his tenure, he played a key role in leading the financial vision and strategy of the international nonprofit research institute, achieving over 70% revenue growth and establishing new European headquarters.

Prior to that, he was associate vice president of finance and global operations at the University of Arizona, where he managed a multimillion-dollar budget and administrative operations across the university’s global campuses and international programs. He contributed to the university’s successful expansion of its presence to nearly 60 countries and the creation of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to support international growth.

Additionally, for nearly a decade, he served as a diplomat with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development, where he oversaw financial operations for U.S. diplomatic missions in Senegal, El Salvador, Bahrain and Guatemala and contributed to international development programs in civil society, education, environmental protection and health care. He was a recipient of multiple Meritorious Honor Awards during his time in the federal government.

“We were excited to find someone with Kevin’s experience in global financial management, strategic planning, operations management, the nonprofit sector and international diplomacy,” said Ridgway White, Mott Foundation president and CEO. “He’s uniquely qualified to provide financial leadership as Mott prepares to embark on our second century of charitable work in our hometown of Flint and communities around the world.”

“I’m deeply honored to join Mott Foundation, an organization whose impact on local communities resonates profoundly with me,” said Perkins. “I understand the vital role Mott plays in fostering positive change, and I’m eager to bring my passion for financial management to support its mission-driven work.”

Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Perkins holds a Master of Science in accounting from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and international business from the University of Cincinnati. He is a licensed certified public accountant.
