We believe the sustainability of Flint neighborhoods and the downtown area will improve through the creation of more safe, affordable and attractive housing options.
The quality of life for residents improves when neighborhoods have an abundance of good, safe, affordable housing options for both homeowners and renters in areas that are free from blight.
Individuals and families who own homes reap numerous benefits, including wealth creation and enhanced family stability. And the community as a whole is strengthened when the benefits of home ownership are more attainable for all residents.
The Foundation supports nonprofits and community organizations bringing new housing units to Flint. We work to ensure neighborhoods are free from abandoned houses and other blight — and near active, vibrant and safe commercial corridors. Our efforts also ensure rental housing remains a viable option for many in Flint, with active inspections and code enforcement to improve the safety of those living in the units and the neighborhood as a whole.
We have three strategies to achieve our goals.
